97th Annual Meeting

The Big Island of Kona has much to offer you for relaxation and fun. While you are encouraged to research on your own, we recommend some of the following activities:
Coffee Tours
Kona is home to world-famous Kona coffee. The area's beautiful plantations and farms have been passed down through generations, ensuring pride and care go into the cultivation of these crops. Enjoy walks among beautiful orchards and learn how high quality coffee is made. We personally recommend the great folks at Greenwell Farms (our favorite part is tasting all the great coffee flavors!).
Stargazing
Some of the best visibility of the stars on Earth is in Hawaii! Tours such as the Maunakea Summit Tour take you to great heights to see the stars and learn about local culture. Please note: these areas are very cold due to the altitude. Plan ahead by packing warm pants and a jacket.
Sail Away
There are several boating, sailing, and kayaking options on Kona. Take a small boat out near the hotel, or go sailing and snorkeling to the Captain Cook Monument.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Though a bit of a drive, it is not every day you get to see active volcanoes! You can explore the park on your own, or inquire with the concierge at the Fairmont Orchid to arrange a guided, day-long tour.
ATV Adventures
Whether alone or with others, you can explore the rugged side of Hawaii in an ATV. These tours can be arranged with the Orchid's concierge, or visit Aloha Adventure Farms for a great Polynesian adventure tour (mud and beautiful views included!).
Horseback Rides
If you'd like to ride but stay a little cleaner than an ATV, Kona has scenic horseback rides available across the Big Island. Take a leisurely drive to one of several horse riding farms and locations. One particularly scenic option is at the Paniolo Ranch near Waikoloa.
Stay tuned for more recommendations!
